Lena Zammataro

WELCOME

I am Lena Zammataro, a certified early childhood education teacher. I’ve been working in the field of Special Education for the past fifteen years. I specialize in assisting young children with Autism, language delays, and other related disabilities, making meaningful connections with the world around them. I help infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in following primary developmental areas such as Fine & Gross, Cognition, Language, Adaptive Life Skills, Social Emotional Skills.

I USE APPLIED BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS

ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) Therapy is simply the application of everyday situations that will over time, increase or decrease targeted behavior. ABA has been used to help individuals acquire many different skills, such as language skills, self-help skills, and play skills. In addition, these principles can help to decrease maladaptive behaviors such as aggression, self-stimulatory behaviors, and self-injury.

Families need to be an active participant every step of the way
in order to help the child’s overall progress.

I provide a safe environment and ensure that our goals and your goals are the same. Not only do I collaborate with you, I also make sure to work with your child’s school and anyone else who plays an important role in your child’s progress. That is why I teach your children using evidence-based methods that are proven to be effective.

ABA PARENT TRAINING

Parent training is an integral part of facilitating and implementing your child’s skills. Evidence-based research has found a direct correlation between family involvement to acquisition of skills.

PARENT TRAINING – A 4-TIER APPROACH

Discussing: a conversation about what skill we are focusing on, how to implement the intervention, and why we would like to work on this skill.

Modeling: I will demonstrate the intervention used with the child. This is done through modeling the intervention that is currently being implemented.

Doing: the parent will demonstrate the intervention used with the child. This is done through modeling with the child or through role play.

Providing feedback: The therapist will discuss the intervention practiced, make comments, and provide corrective feedback.

This approach will continue until the family member feels comfortable providing the intervention.

–Elizabeth M. BCBA

Lena was such a godsend to our family and continually used innovative techniques in our son’s developmental intervention/ABA sessions. Lena quickly developed a rapport with my son which helped  him come out of his shell. My son is now following 1- step directions, pointing to make choices, and has increased his ability to have positive interactions with his peers.

- Parent of 2 year old child in early intervention

We had a difficult situation with our daughter and managing her behaviors.  Lena approached him with a firm hand, but with a sense of humor when needed.  Lena is very committed to her work and the outcome of her work.  She is a rare person in the field of special education.  She goes the extra mile to help your child and to hold them accountable for their work.
